Le Pouvoir des folies théâtrales / The Power of Theatrical Madness

Jan Fabre celebrates and destroys the greatness of the theatre of old. However, the force of a new theatre manages to break through this violence. At the end of the performance, an actor puts an actress across his knee and laps her bare buttocks until she can no longer take the pain and answers the riddle "1982?" "This is theatre like it was to be expected and foreseen", the actress shrieks, her buttocks crimson by the slapping. Behind the gold and velvet colours of this beautiful dream machine Fabre conseals the fuse of the performance's real time/real action. The explosion can be heard miles away.
