Jan Fabre arrives in Barletta, Apulia, to be hosted in one of the most beautiful Italian museums: the Giuseppe De Nittis Gallery Museum – Palazzo della Marra. A gem of Baroque architecture devoted to 18th century art, home to the rich permanent collection of the De Nittis donation for a few years already.

Along the rooms dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the Palazzo della Marra, Jan Fabre will unfold a path shaped on the balanced alternation of historical self-directed films, cibachromes and blue ballpoint pen drawings, mostly realised between 1986 and 1992, coming from various collections.

“Art is a Medusa”, the title of the exhibition, embodies the very essence of art and symbolises the insidious incursion that contemporary art will be carrying out inside the historical Palazzo della Marra. The exhibition – open until February 28, 2013 – will offer above all a first glimpse into a large “participatory” project, conceived by Jan Fabre for one of Apulia’s castles and which will be presented for the first time on November 28, 2012, during the gallery talk at Palazzo della Marra.
